Architectural Guidelines  (A.6.2. "House paint and stain")
Please follow the Architectural Guidelines regarding house paint and stain, taken from section A.6.2 of the ODA Architectural Guidelines document [insert link].

  1. The field (main walls) of the home must be muted color tones only. Unconventional colors such as, but not limited to, orange, pink, red, bright green, bright blue, and purple are not permitted. There are no restrictions on color for the trim, accent (doors/shutters), wall shakes, siding, or garage door.

  2. Zero-lot-line homes must be painted or stained using the same exterior wall and trim color schemes on both homes.

Definitions and examples:
Definitions: 
  • Field: Large areas such as walls [main siding area] 
  • Trim: Corner boards, window trim, fascias, rakes, etc. [edges, borders] 
  • Accent: Specific elements including doors, shutters, and other architectural features [not including shakes] 
  • Shakes: Accent pieces often located on dormer or gable [second large, flat surface] 

Example of definitions from picture below: 
  • Field: [main walls] (1) is painted green 
  • Trim: [edges, borders] (2) is painted white 
  • Accent: [doors, shutters] (3) is painted burgundy 
  • Shakes or Siding: [second flat surface] (4) are painted beige 
  • Garage Door(s): (5) is painted green

NOTE: All 5 color lines must be filled in (use n/a if a surface doesn’t apply to your house).
