Workshop: Body Awareness with Plants / Proprioception – with Karine Bonneval

In connection to the EARTHBOUND Residencies, Secret Hotel and ARoS host the French visual artist Karine Bonneval during the month of October.
Karine works with plants and their sensory abilities and she will host a short workshop, where you can work with plants and even bring something home.
Plants have sensors that allow them to perceive gravity, and to change their position and shape to adapt to any changes that might affect their bodies.

In the workshop, Karine invites you to observe how a plant works with proprioception – body awareness in space; which humans and animals also have. You will learn how to make special pots where the plant stands upright – in order to observe it at home in its subtle way of using its proprioception.
The pot will be made of varnished cellulose and soil material, and it will need to dry at ARoS for a week, after which you can pick it up.
The workshop is for free after you have payed the museum's entrance fee.

The workshop runs from 13 to 15 on Sunday 18th of October,
and is held in English. It is possible to attend without feeling comfortable with talking English. You can bring children from the age of 10.

This workshop is a part of the EARTHBOUND Residencies.
“EARTHBOUND 2021 – Weaving with the More-than-Human” is a symposium happening September next year. With EARTHBOUND we create cross-over meetings between artist, researchers and other citizens, as well as more-than-human creatures. Together we investigate what the climate emergency does to our worldviews, to how we human beings act, and to both the art spheres, scientific research areas and other sociel spheres.
