As you will know from reading my Principal Report in last week’s newsletter, the school is not in a financial position to offer choir or debating this year.
Many of you will appreciate our junior and senior School choirs both for the amazing experiences given to our kids, and for the positive and professional representation of the School at public events. What an amazing achievement last year when the senior choir won the Primary School competition at the prestigious Royal South Street Eisteddfod!
Sadly, we don’t have School funds to run the choir program in 2015. This is due to very tight funding from both Federal and State governments over the last few years, and the School’s determination not to compromise on their teaching of the core curriculum through, for example, increasing class sizes (decreasing teacher to student ratios).
I’d like to see if a sufficient number of families would commit to paying for their children’s participation in either the junior (grades 3 & 4) or senior (5 & 6) choirs in term 2. With sufficient numbers, this would equate to about $2.00 per session, a total of $20.00 for the term per child. This would give us more time to come up with ways to offset costs in subsequent terms, for example, parent performance nights, Choir events at The Grande, community sponsorship, etc.
If you feel you can commit $20.00 for your child’s choir participation in term 2 and potentially a further $40.00 to cover term 3 and term 4, then please register your support using the form below.
