Dear Grade Five Parents,

To allow us to organize the class lists for the Grade 6 Arts Course, your son will need to choose one of the following two classes - music for one full year or drama and art, each for half a year.

The music course is open to students who already play a musical instrument and not necessarily the instrument they played in the Grade 5 band. The students will learn to perform as a band in a variety of musical styles and will be given opportunity to perform for an audience.

The drama and art course will include one term of drama focusing on acting techniques, improvisation sessions, monologues, and basic theatre training. The art term encourages students to develop their means of expression and their understanding of the visual world through varied media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and crafts. Both disciplines place emphasis on openness and self expression.

There will be a one-time charge of $150.00 per student for the Grade 6 Arts Course. These funds will help provide materials for each of the classes.

Please indicate your son's first choice for his arts course. We will try to accommodate all first choices. Please complete this form by Monday, June 1.
