[BYRON] Male-identifying, 30 – 40. Very handsome host of the reality TV show Nobody Loves You. Takes all of this completely seriously. Carries a torch for Nina, his producer. An absurd version of Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelor. Has gravitas and comic chops. Pop/rock/soul preferably tenor but can be baritenor.

[DOMINIC/EVAN] Male-identifying, mid 20s – mid 30s. DOMINIC is a misogynistic reality TV show contestant. Hyper-masculine a la Jersey Shore. EVAN is Jenny’s gay roommate. Protective of Jenny, he’s the biggest fan of the reality TV show Nobody Loves You. Has comic chops. Pop/rock tenor.

[MEGAN] Female-identifying, mid 20s – early 30s. Reality TV show contestant. A worn-out alcoholic party girl who’s desperate for some kind of redemption. Uses sex as a way of connecting with others. Has comic chops. Pop/rock alto or mezzo belt.

[UNDERSTUDY #1] Male Identifying, 20’s-30’s. Will likely understudy the roles of JEFF and BYRON. [JEFF] Male-identifying, mid 20s – early 30s. Smart, edgy guy whom we end up falling in love with. The protagonist who doesn’t like reality TV, but he ends up as a contestant on a reality TV show and learns to fall in love. A hyper-intellectual, which makes him vulnerable. Should have a sexiness and warmth. Has comic chops. Pop/rock preferably tenor, but could be baritenor. [BYRON] Male-identifying, 30 – 40. Very handsome host of the reality TV show Nobody Loves You. Intelligent, edgy, hipster-ish, not easily impressed—but we also have to fall in love with her. Afraid to express her artistic vision. Has comic chops. Pop/rock alto or mezzo. [SAMANTHA] Female-identifying, mid 20s – early 30s. An ingénue with quirkiness. A reality TV show contestant, she is a good, sweet, gorgeous gal who has been unlucky in love but turns out to have an emotional, manipulative side; she ends up not finding love but becoming a reality TV star. Has comic chops. Mezzo or soprano pop/rock belt.

[UNDERSTUDY #4] Female Identifying, mid 20’s-early 30’s. Will likely understudy the roles of NINA/TANYA/ZENOBIA and MEGAN. [NINA/TANYA/ZENOBIA] Female-identifying, 30 – 40. NINA is a tough, high-powered reality TV producer. TANYA is Jeff’s flighty ex-girlfriend. ZENOBIA is a funny reality TV show contestant who gets eliminated. Has comic chops. Pop/rock alto. [MEGAN] Female-identifying, mid 20s – early 30s. Reality TV show contestant. A worn-out alcoholic party girl who’s desperate for some kind of redemption. Uses sex as a way of connecting with others. Has comic chops. Pop/rock alto or mezzo belt.

SELF TAPE INSTRUCTIONS:

1) SLATE- Your name, height, and location. Please confirm you can be a San Francisco local hire.

2) SONG- A brief (one minute) Contemporary Musical Theatre song that shows range and personality. We would prefer singing with a backing track or accompaniment track if possible. Existing musical samples or recordings from a live performance that fit the criteria are welcome.

3) SIDES- Select ONE or TWO sides from the appropriate link below based on the roles you are interested in being considered for. If you would like to be considered for ALL roles, you may still select one to two sides for the initial tape. We will provide additional sides should you be called back.
