MAACCE Institute Winter Workshop: Friday, February 24, 2017 @ PGCC

Fostering Independence: Helping Students Become More Effective Self-Directed Learners
With Sarah Lynn

In this practice-oriented workshop, participants will learn classroom activities and routines to develop students' essential “learning-to-learn” skills. Workshop participants will explore ways to get lower level students to recognize themselves as agents in their own learning and develop the methods, skills, and practices they need to become more independent learners. The classroom activities include: student contracts, discussion prompts, self-testing, reflections and recaps, problem solving, learning logs, checklists, gallery walks, and routines for student turn-and-talk and peer learning.
