co-hort 1 application
MADE to MARKET is retail-ready curriculum designed to help DC makers create and scale successful brands. This cohort based program, activated through a series of workshops, webinars and panel discussions, will assist makers from product launch to the lining the shelves of retail stores in DC and beyond.
The curriculum will be administered over a 12-week (+) semester covering the themes of Raising Capital and Measuring Cash Flow, Working with Supply and Demand, Production and Retail Spaces, HR, Packaging and Branding, and Scaling with Product Placement. Each cohort will receive education and mentorship delivered by seasoned makers and practitioners from DC and beyond. The program, run by Shop Made in DC co-owner and founder of People Make Place, will partner with industry experts to lead online and real life discussions around the outlined themes, breaking each down into interactive activities for students to walk-away with tangible next steps to grow their business.

This program is designed to help grow DC’s maker class in a sustainable way. Many producers are skilled at product creation but not always at running a business, especially a business that is both retail and wholesale. MADE to MARKET will work to assist the entry level maker with both the planning and the implementation of a successful business launch as well as give them tactical skills that allow them to enter a mixed structure marketplace at an advantage.

The first co-hort will be August 6 through October 15. Makers must commit to Monday evening workshops from 7 to 9PM.
