MARY FRASIER EQUITY & EXCELLENCE AWARD
The Georgia Association for Gifted Children's Mary Frasier Equity & Excellence Award recognizes outstanding achievement in practices that promote equitable identification procedures and/or provision of high-quality services to gifted students from underrepresented groups (economically disadvantaged, minority, or disabled, or those who are limited English proficient). Any individual, group, or organization that has advanced the pioneering work of Dr. Mary M. Frasier is eligible for this award.

Criteria
1. Impact
The contributions made by an individual, group, or organization toward equity and excellence for underrepresented groups of gifted students should demonstrate:
a. positive efforts that have been sustained over time;
b. positive influence on others - directly or through a ripple effect;
c. promise for continued influence on the field and/or other individuals (e.g., students, teachers, other professionals), particularly in the state of Georgia.

2. Relationship to Dr. Frasier's Work
The contribution(s) of this individual, group, or organization should have a clear relationship to Dr. Frasier's work. Specifically, the nominee(s) shall have successfully addressed one or more of the issues that Dr. Frasier identified as persistent barriers to the identification of gifted students from underrepresented populations:
a. Attitude - The nominee has demonstrated a proficiency view of students who are culturally diverse, economically disadvantaged and/or have specific disabilities. The nominee has enthusiastically and persistently modeled his/her conviction that gifts and talents exist or can emerge from minority or low-income students.
b. Access - The actions of the nominee have led to expanded opportunities for culturally, linguistically and/or economically diverse students to participate in advanced programming.
c. Assessment - The actions of the nominee have contributed to more equitable identification practices by improving one or more steps in the process used to recognize and evaluate the presence of and degree of giftedness in students from underrepresented groups (e.g., screening procedures, advocacy, referrals, test selection).
d. Accommodation - The nominee has been instrumental in designing and/or implementing a program and/or curricular experiences that support the needs and interests of gifted students who are culturally, linguistically, or economically diverse or who have disabilities.
