Grading in Canvas
Canvas Grades and Speedgrader allow you to easily share assignment grades and feedback with students throughout the semester. Topics such as adding annotations and comments within SpeedGrader, controlling when students see grades, and the tips and tricks for an organized and effective gradebook will be covered. Screencasting Basics
Learn the basics of “screencasting”, recording videos of action taking place on your screen. We will look at the workflow of creating a screencast using the free tool Screencast-o-matic. You will also learn how to make your screencasts accessible by adding closed captions, and uploading it to YuJa to be viewable in Canvas. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
TurnitIn in Canvas Assignments
Faculty now have the option of enabling Turnitin similarity checking for assignments submitted through Canvas as a way to help students avoid plagiarism and appropriately document and cite sources. In this session, we will cover how to enable Turnitin for student submissions, how to access and interpret the Similarity index and report, and strategies for introducing the tool to students. Making the Most of YuJa - Our Media Server
This session will introduce users to the school’s media server system: YuJa. We will cover the basics of the system including how it integrates with Canvas LMS. You will learn how YuJa can automatically add captions to any video. Participants are encouraged to bring a video that they would like to add to YuJa. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality in Education
VR & AR have great potential for education. In this workshop you’ll get an overview of the two technologies and then get a chance to play with the latest hardware and software and see some examples of educational applications including an Endicott professor who is currently having students create augmented reality content. Canvas Groups and Collaboration
Canvas enhances class teamwork by easing group creation and collaboration. Participants will learn how to create and manage groups and group assignments, and experience the collaborative potential of live-edited Google documents, slides and sheets. Instructor: Jane Tutein
Google Add-Ons and Chrome Extensions for Research, Writing, and Feedback
Google Add-Ons and Chrome Extensions let you do more with your Google Docs, Sheets and Chrome by adding new, useful features such as the ability to create graphic organizers, build a bibliography, or provide audio feedback to students within documents during the writing process. We will explore these and other features that are freely available with Add-Ons and Extensions. Instructor: Hedrick Ellis
iPad Training from Apple
Sue Burch, our Apple training consultant will be on campus for the day providing a blend of training on iPad classroom integration, and 1:1 subject-specific consulting. This training is designed for faculty who are part of the iPad initiative. Instructor: Sue Burch
Interactive Video
