Request to Address the Board
Public comments will be limited to three minutes per person or 20 minutes per issue. The clock will keep track of your remaining time, and when you have used your allotted minutes, the President will strike the gavel signifying the end of your allotted time for public comment. If more than 7 people wish to speak regarding one issue, the time allotted to each person will be reduced to keep all comments within the 20-minute limit. Groups may choose a spokesperson to be allotted the time that would otherwise have been available to the members of the group. Time limits will be strictly enforced. Please refrain from repetitiveness, personal attacks/insults, and profane language/comments. A person may address the Board no more than twice during a single meeting and may address the Board on the same issue or topic during no more than two consecutive meetings. Upon the President’s striking of the gavel, speakers must immediately cease speaking. The President will then explain the basis of the gaveling, and the individual shall not resume speaking until authorized by the President.
The meeting will be recorded. The use of the recording is at the discretion of the District, without recourse. Audio or audio visual recordings shall not be the official record of a public Board meeting, but may be available for public access or research through the District website. Any audio and/or audio visual recordings of a Board meeting shall be retained and disposed of in accordance with the District’s records retention schedule.
