Session 1: Comparative adaptation to hypoxia – hypoxia in seals, sheep and deer mice at altitude, animal models; focus on physiology, development (placenta), ‘omics of extreme adaptation
Session 2: Human altitude adaptation and maladaptation – Focus on The Genetics of Altitude Adaptation Consortium (TGAAC): comparative genomic approaches in human populations (also epigenomics, physiology)

Session 3: Consequences of hypoxia on brain function – sleep, cognition, and techniques (e.g., MRI in brains of apneic animals and humans of different ancestries, including high altitude; biomarkers)
Session 4: Chronic and intermittent hypoxia disease states and potential therapeutics – ancestry, individual variation, discrepant phenotypes, molecular markers (systems biology)
