The EBDSA Labor Committee is offering “Labor 101: Socialism and the Labor Movement," a four-session weekly series starting Thursday, April 10.
This series is meant to provide DSA members and friends a picture of:
the importance of labor for the socialist project
what unions are and do
labor history
labor’s challenges under Trump
ways to join and support the labor movement
Other topics include: Who is in the working class? What are examples of socialist strategies in unions? What are examples of successes and failures of socialists within the labor movement?
This discussion group was not designed for experienced, well-read socialist labor activists. We are offering the series primarily for those newer to socialism and newer to or inexperienced with labor or who might know about unions or be in a union but want a socialist perspective.
This is a discussion group, not a class. We believe engaged discussions and activities during the sessions are crucial parts of learning and increase the ability to use these ideas at work and in political discussion. We will meet four times for two hours each week, with a manageable amount of reading for each session.
