Reading in the Garden: Cultivating Delight with UCSB Reads & Edible Campus

🌿✨ Discover the power of self-love, self-care, and affirmation in a serene and peaceful garden setting, while embracing the joys of literature, nature, and reflection.

📖 In celebration of the 2025 UCSB Reads selection, The Book of Delights by Ross Gay, join the UCSB Library and the Edible Campus Program for a communal reading in the beautiful Saint Michael's Community Garden. Inspired by Gay’s practice of noticing and appreciating small joys, participants will have the opportunity to craft their own personal “delight” entries—reflecting on everyday moments of gratitude, connection, and wonder.

💖 Alongside guided activities and reflective exercises, take a moment to slow down, embrace your unique qualities, and cultivate a deep sense of self-worth in an uplifting environment. Whether you come to listen, write, or simply enjoy the garden’s tranquility, we welcome you to savor the delights of the present.

đź“… Date: Friday, May 2nd from 2:30pm-4pm
📍 Location: Saint Michael's Community Garden (6586 Picasso Rd, Isla Vista, CA 93117)

Please also note that the Edible Campus and Nature Wellbeing Programs are committed to diversity in our programs. In order to assess how well our program engages the many communities at UCSB, we ask for student ID (perm) numbers from attendees who are UCSB students. We use these to access financial aid data and demographics to develop program statistics on the community we serve.
