Heritage Festival 2019 volunteer sign-up
Heritage Festival, celebrating Canadian multiculturalism
August 3-5, 2019
Hawrelak Park

++Friday, August 2 update: Although we now have all the shifts filled, please do sign up incase we need substitute volunteers. If you sign up now and we need your help, I'll contact you and you can tell me if you're still available for the time needed. Thanks all and have a great weekend!!

This festival has been one of our most effective outreach and fundraising events in the past, with tens of thousands of people arriving on bicycles over the course of the weekend, and we're excited to offer our services to supervise 2 bike compounds this year. After meeting with the Heritage Days director this winter, we're well set up to have the 2 compounds and secure fencing set up according to our specifications.

We have two volunteer roles: we need volunteers to help monitor the bike parking (no experience or training necessary) and volunteers to do mechanical tune ups. Both roles generate donations to run other Bike Edmonton services and help people learn about Bike Edmonton.

Volunteers can eat and drink all day in the volunteer compound, as well as take turns exploring the festival itself (as long as at least one volunteer remains with the bikes and volunteers remain in contact with each other in case both are needed). Patrons sometimes donate food tickets to volunteers at the compound as well, which volunteers are welcome to share and use.

Volunteering at Heritage Festival increases your priority for other events, such as volunteering for us at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival or Symphony Under the Sky (where volunteers receive a free ticket).

If you're driving, you may have a long wait to get into the festival. Other options include park and ride services where you park and take a shuttle bus to the site and, of course, biking. We'll be sending out shuttle bus information closer to the event. If you need help finding a bike route to the park, please let us know and we'll help you out!
