Class Work 60%

Students will receive a rehearsal grade every day.
Students will earn a grade of 100 for each day that they have all of their required materials.
Required materials include instrument in working condition, band binder, pencils, and all books and music.
Students without required material will be given an alternative assignment to be completed during class for a replacement rehearsal grade.

Homework will be assigned periodically for a Daily Work grade.
Homework will be graded and returned.
Corrections can be made and the homework can be turned in for a higher grade.
If the student does not turn in the homework, a grade of 0 will be earned.

Practice records will be due every Wednesday.
Grading rubric for each practice record will be listed on the practice record.

Test and Performances 40%

Playing tests will be assigned weekly.
Test grades may be taken in class, in sectionals, or through a recorded test.
Tests will either be graded on:
-a 100 point scale based on correct notes, rhythms, articulations, and performance of musical elements such as dynamics, etc.
-on a pass/fail system. If the test is considered passed, the student will earn a grade of 100. If the test is considered failed, the student will earn a grade of 0 until the test is passed.
For SmartMusic tests, students must earn a minimum grade of 90 or higher before submitting in order to earn credit. SmartMusic submissions below 90 will be reassigned until the final week of the six weeks.
Tests can be retaken as many times as the student wishes until the end of the grading period.
Test assignments submitted after the due date may incur a 10 point penalty per week late.

Performances will be graded based on attendance, participation, and appropriate attire.
2 points will be taken off for every minute the student is late for pre-concert warm-ups.
Additional points may be taken off for incorrect concert attire.

Concert etiquette grades will be based on attendance of formal concerts. Students must stay for the entire concert to earn full credit.

Objective sheets will count as 1 test grade each six-weeks.
Grading will be based on the number of objectives completed with each objective worth 10 points.
