The Etobicoke Humane Society’s Foster Program (EHSFP) builds on the capacity of our shelter and allows us to help more animals as well as those with special medical, physical or behavioural needs. Foster volunteers temporarily care for the animal in their home until the animal is ready to go to a forever home. We require both short term as well as long-term foster homes. The EHSP is a great option for families who may not be able to commit to an animal for its entire life.
All vet costs and supplies including food, examinations, medications and prescription diets are provided by the EHS.
Fostering opportunities:• Short-term foster: 1 night up to 3 weeks for special situations• Foster until adoption: 3 month commitment required• Palliative care foster: Foster of senior animals or those that have a serious illness until they pass.
