TEDxCalgary Volunteer Form

Please tell us about yourself. The more information you are able to provide, the better we are able to assess if there is a suitable volunteer opportunity for you.

For much of the year, the easiest way to get involved is as a meetup volunteer. Some information specific to meetup volunteering can be found below.

If you would like to help out with our live speaker events, consider that we often call on meetup volunteers who have been involved consistently throughout the year.

    TEDxCalgary Meetup Volunteer Expectations

    - TEDxCalgary Meetups are opportunities to have thoughtful conversations about ideas that matter with other engaged members of the community. It is not an environment for selling products, services or otherwise marketing your business. Share, don’t sell. - TEDxCalgary Meetups are all about conversation and engagement. As a facilitator, you are expected to invite others to share their thoughts and meaningfully contribute to the discussion. This role requires sensitivity to social norms, ongoing assessment and management of group dynamics, and a strong sense of what behaviour supports positive interaction.

    TEDxCalgary Meetup Volunteer Process

    - The first step in becoming a meetup volunteer is to show up to the meetups! - The second step is to fill in the volunteer application form. (This one.) Forms are reviewed and assessed on enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and alignment with TEDxCalgary’s goals. - If we determine that there is a strong alignment between your goals and ours, then a meetup leader will contact you for a follow-up conversation to discuss in more detail how we might work together. This process is designed to ensure alignment between our organization, our brand, and our volunteers. We select volunteer facilitators who demonstrate the ability to effectively represent TEDxCalgary to our meetup guests and who meet the expectations outlined above. In those cases where TEDxCalgary doesn’t see a good fit for a volunteer applicant, we will make every effort to preserve that individual’s dignity and confidentiality.
