Acknowledgement of Risk & Obligations

By participating in activities organised by Hike Society Adelaide Inc., I understand that hiking, outdoor recreation, and social events involve inherent risks. These risks may include uneven terrain, slips and falls, sudden changes in weather, heat or cold exposure, wildlife encounters, physical exertion, medical events, and delays accessing emergency assistance, especially in remote locations. I acknowledge that injury, illness, loss, or damage to personal property may occur.

I accept responsibility for managing my own safety and agree to take part only in activities that match my health, fitness, and experience level. I will carry adequate water, food, medication, clothing, and equipment appropriate for the activity; inform the activity leader of any medical condition or limitation that may affect my participation; remain with the group unless otherwise directed; raise concerns promptly if I feel unsafe or unwell; and follow all reasonable instructions from activity leaders and Hike Society officers.

Photography & Media Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that Hike Society Adelaide Inc. is a public-facing social and outdoor group and that photographs and videos are taken during hikes and events. This includes media captured by Hike Society committee members, volunteers, and other attendees.

I understand that while I may request not to be the subject of direct or close-up photography, it is not feasible or reasonable to guarantee that I will not appear incidentally or in the background of photos or videos taken during activities. I acknowledge that such incidental appearances may occur during hikes where participants are moving, dispersed, or focused on terrain and safety.

I further acknowledge that images captured at Hike Society events may be shared on public platforms, including social media and promotional materials, and that Hike Society Adelaide Inc. is not able to police or control imagery captured and shared by other attendees.

By participating in Hike Society activities, I accept these conditions and understand that this approach applies consistently across all events.
