Global Big Day - North Beach
Saturday May 5, 2018 1:30 – 3:30 pm (High tide is 12:22 pm)
Global Big Day - North Beach Search for Shorebirds
Location: Meet at Parking Lot by Boardwalk 1
Max: 15
Cost: Free; $5 donation for guests

SIB will continue to support the Global Big Day of birding with an afternoon walk from Boardwalk #1 to the Kiawah River to see what we can find on North Beach. Our local shorebird expert, Aija Konrad, will lead us on this Learning Together experience. The walk will be 2+ miles on the beach to Capn Sam's inlet. You may turn around at any time you wish based upon your personal abilities and time constraints.

Hopefully we will see Red Knots and Ruddy Turnstones that have arrived in their migration as well as many other shorebirds, some before they leave for breeding further north. Sanderlings, Dunlins and Oyster Catchers can also be expected to be found.

Bring sun block, bug spray, a hat, water and binoculars.
