About: Youth Art Connection (YAC) is a free, six session summer program for high school students interested in art and museum careers. YAC participants view and discuss artwork from the American Folk Art Museum’s current exhibitions, create art inspired by the collection, meet museum staff and go behind the scenes of the museum, and participate in field trips to other arts institutions.
All NYC high school students are eligible to apply, and preference will be given to students who live or attend school in Queens and graduating seniors. The deadline for applications is May 24, 2024.
Sessions will take place between 1–4pm at the American Folk Art Museum at 2 Lincoln Square, the museum’s administrative offices in Long Island City, Queens, and at other NYC museum and gallery locations. Students will be expected to travel to various locations throughout NYC to meet the group. Participants will be provided with a schedule of activities after being accepted into the program. Snacks and Metrocards will be provided.
*Should changes in schedule or program format occur due to unforeseen circumstances, students will be notified via email and text message by the instructor.
