I wanted to take a moment to clarify the leadership structure of this event. Unfortunately, back in 2016 I committed to officiate a wedding of one of my former students in Indiana on this weekend. I asked them to move their wedding from September 30 (the typical Breakaway weekend) to October 7, only to find out once they announced the date that the Breakaway Retreat switched its date to October 7 as well. Although I am bummed to be missing the trip, I am 100% confident in the safety and integrity of this trip without my presence. Here's why:

#1. Camp staff and retreat staff. The beauty of this trip is that the events and activities are 100% planned without the help of me or our leaders. When I show up, all I do is connect with our students, lead a small group, and maintain order in the cabins. This is the exact thing we ask of our seasoned student ministry leaders, and they are more than ready to do a great job with this. This is a fantastic, organized retreat without me.

#2. Familiarity with the retreat. This will be our fourth year attending this weekend. We know the amazing affect it has for our students and we know that it is a safe space for this to happen.

#3. Great student ministry team. We will have six of Storehouse's finest leaders with your kids. They will be available by phone if you want to check in for any reason.

I guarantee that there will not be a deficiency of leadership in my absence. If I felt there would be, we would have canceled. Please be sure to reach out to me if you'd have further questions!
