Out in the Bay invites submissions for short audio “quickies” to fill out our Queer Power Hours. We welcome opinion pieces, perspectives, reflections on life experience, music, etc. of
1 minute to 4 minutes in length.
These are open to all – the contributor doesn’t need to be queer — as long as the quickie refers to LGBTQ+ life in some way. For example:
- Humorous or poignant coming-out moments and experiences within families, among friends or on the job - in any setting.
- Intersectional perspectives about queerness and race, religion, (dis)ability, etc.
- Intergenerational perspectives. E.g. What have you learned from LGBTQ+ people older or younger than you? What are the best, and the most difficult aspects of relating with people of another age than yours?
- Short local music features.
The above are just some ideas, not limitations. What’s on your mind? What are we not thinking of?
Your audio submission doesn't need to be fancy or highly produced, as long as the audio is clear. You could just record one as a voice memo on your phone. But if you want to get fancy, great, knock your socks off, and ours too!
If you're shy about having your voice on the radio and in podcasts, we'll consider short written submissions that we can voice for you.
