Funded by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Green Schoolyards Program, The Living Schoolyard project at Cortada School transformed 2.48 acres of the campus into a greener, healthier space for approximately 375 students. The project removed asphalt and added 46 new trees, creating a more inviting place to play and learn. Changes include five outdoor classrooms with native plants, shade trees and seating in the parent waiting area, and a looped path with trees around the play field.
