School Resource Officer
School Resource Officers (SRO) are law enforcement officers who are responsible for working with school administrators, security staff and faculty on developing comprehensive safety plans to ensure schools are safe places for students to learn. Their primary role is to maintain order and security on school grounds and provide a positive learning environment. An SRO is encouraged to engage with students, teachers, staff, families and the community to foster school and law enforcement partnerships.
The SRO would be available during the school instructional day and follow the district calendar. There would be flexibility to allow for the SRO to attend after school events occurring throughout the school district. The District and Evansville Police Department see this as a shared position with the next step in the process being to gauge community support.
An email address is required so that we are able to control the number of responses per email account. The email addresses will not be shared for any reasons nor will the responses be shared tied to the email account.
As a taxpayer, would you support the funding of a SRO (School Resource Officer) through the use of government and/or school district funds?
How important do you feel it is to have a SRO assigned to the schools within Evansville Community School District?
