We (Are.na) are prototyping an experimental tool (Pilgrim) that lives somewhere between a bookmarklet and a web crawler.
The goal is to help researchers (casual or otherwise) draw connections between an article or piece of text and its related materials.
Pilgrim works by extracting the content of an article, and loading any links clicked inline. As you go deeper into supplemental material, your path is maintained, hopefully giving a reader a better sense of how the information flows.
This questionnaire will help us get a sense of the different habits for consuming information online, as well as if a tool like Pilgrim could help every day readers better understand the information they are consuming.
