What challenges, barriers, or blowback have you or others experienced in voicing your mental health needs or accessing reasonable accommodations?
The Americans Disabilities Act (ADA) and other nondiscrimination laws give people with mental health conditions legal rights to receive changes to their work environment including but not limited to a flexible workplace, scheduling changes, breaks, leave, the removal of marginal job duties, and other modifications. Barriers can include fear of disclosing a mental health need due to stigma or discouragement, difficult processes to seek the adjustments, and negative reactions afterward.
