Afrika Afeni Mills is an Education Consultant and author of Open Windows, Open Minds: Developing Antiracist, Pro-Human Students. She works with colleagues, teachers, coaches, administrators, and individuals to transform practices. Afrika has been featured on podcasts, blogs, delivered keynote addresses, and facilitated sessions at conferences across the United States. Her TED-Ed Talk, Having Conversations About Race is Just Another Hard Thing We Can Learn to Do will be available in late Spring 2023.
Afrika believes that all educators can be motivated, engaged, dynamic practitioners and leaders when provided with the support needed to create student-centered, culturally responsive learning environments that inspire wonder and creativity and nurture diversity, belonging, equity, and inclusion.
Afrika holds an M.Ed. in Elementary Teaching from the Boston College Lynch School of Education where she graduated first in her class. Afrika has spent more than 20 years working in and with schools as an educator, teacher developer and administrator.
