Application for Pod Leader Fall 2025
Thank you for your interest in serving as a Pod Leader for the GUMC Early Career Faculty Mentoring Program.  Pod Leaders are essential to the collaborative learning sessions and pod meetings. As a benefit of the program, pod leaders will receive professional development coaching from a Certified Executive Life Coach. This position also fulfills a substantial university service experience necessary for promotion.

A Pod Leader facilitates a small group throughout the eight month mentoring program to deepen the discussions and enrich the learning experience of the mentoring cohort.  The Pod Leaders, with the support of the program managers, will be responsible for facilitating small group breakouts during scheduled large group meetings, assist each of the small group members with the professional learning activities, and provide guidance on possible mentors for each of the small group members.  The Pod Leader will serve as a coach in that the purpose is to collaborate with the small group members as a group and individually to provide guidance and thought provoking discussion to inspire the mentee to reach his/her/their professional potential.

Pod Leaders will be assigned a maximum of five mentees in their pod. These will be faculty members with similar goals, career paths, and departments, matched as best as possible.

Up to five Pod Leaders will be chosen for each cohort, and the Pod Leader must have experience mentoring faculty (informal or formal). Pod Leaders must have had a full time faculty appointment for at least 3 years and have more than 2 years experience at GUMC.

The time commitment for the first four months (September - December) of the program is:
  • One 1 hour virtual pod leader orientation: Wednesday, August 27 at 12 PM ET (Tentative)
  • One 90 minute group coaching session: Wednesday, September 3, 4:30 - 6 PM ET
  • Five 90 minute cohort sessions, all 4:30 - 6 PM ET: September 10, October 1, October 22, November 19, December 10
The last four months (January - April) of the program requires 45 minutes monthly for the pod check ins.

In addition, as a benefit for pod leaders, all pod leaders will have three or four individual 60 minute coaching sessions with a Certified Executive Life Coach scheduled according to the availability of the pod leader and Certified Life Coach between September - April.

Applications are due by Friday, April 11, 11:59 PM ET.  Applicants will be notified by May 9.
