Program Description

A nine-month leadership development program that began in 1994 for a diverse group of citizens who have:

- a demonstrated ability to achieve personal goals
- availability of time and resources for effective community service
- a demonstrated personal commitment to our community

Mission

Leadership Van Wert County provides leadership development to a diverse group of citizens to enable them to effectively serve their community.

Program Topics

- Team Building: High ropes course at YMCA Camp Clay
- Self Improvement: Strength assessment and coaching utilizing the Clifton Strengths
- Volunteerism: Connection and participation with community organizations
- Project Management: Plan and Execute a community improvement project
- Ethics & Leadership: Classroom content as well as panel and roundtable opportunities with local leaders
- Community Discovery: Tours of local government offices, area businesses and downtown Van Wert

Tuition

Individuals are sponsored by their business or organization, or you may nominate youreself. Class tuition is $475.00 per individual. Installment plans are accepted.

Commitment

Participants are expected to make a commitment to the Leadership Van Wert County program. The cohort will meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Sessions will be from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The class will plan and execute a community project. Absences or lack of participation in any part of the program may result in a participant leave the program or making up absences the following year. The Leadership program runs January through September.

Board Participation

Participants will be matched up with a local community non-profit Board of Directors. During the class year participants will attend 2 board meetings and give a brief report on their experience to the cohort and Leadership committee.

Participant Commitments

I understand that the primary purpose of the leadership of Van Wert County progame is foster leadership & encourage community involvement. I understand that completion of the program carries a commitment ot become a more active, effective participant in community service. To assist in the fulfillment of that purpose, there are requirements, which must be met.

2023 Program Calendar and requirements

** Class dates/times are subject to change -- alll participants will be notified in advance should this occur.
- Any more than 2 absences may result in dismessal from the program.
- Participant fees are to be paid in full no later than 30 days after the beginning of the program unless the alternate payment arrangements have been made.
- Tuition refunds will not be made after the program begins.
- All participants are required to take part in a Community Board which wil require attending two meetins beyond our normal Leadership class days and presenting a report to the Leadership Class.
-All participants are required to take part in the Class Project.
