Easter 5 Outdoor Worship Gathering with Communion
St. Bede’s will offer an outdoor in-person worship gathering with the sharing of communion on Sunday, May 2nd at 3 pm.

This in-person worship gathering will be offered in addition to our regular 10 am online Zoom worship gathering, which will take place as normal on Sunday, May 2.

Following the guidelines of the Diocese of Atlanta, participants will need to be socially distanced (at least six feet apart – family units may stand/sit together – these distances will be marked on the ground), wear masks, and bring their own chairs.

The gathering will take place creekside (in the strip of grass between the bridges and the lower parking lot – next to the community garden) and in the first few rows of the lower parking lot to allow for maximum accessibility for any who wish to attend.

A note about communion in pandemic times:  During this period where greater allowances are beginning, communion will be offered in the form of bread (wafers) alone.  [Please note that the theology of the Episcopal Church has always been that the sacrament is complete in either element.]  The consecration of the bread must take place in advance and the bread must be pre-packaged for three days before it is distributed.  When you arrive at this gathering, packets of bread will be available for you to pick up.  There should be enough bread in each packet for two people.  Please collect your packet(s) as you arrive and hold the consecrated bread until the point in the liturgy where we will all share in communion together.  This will likely feel different for us all, but please remember that this is a first step and will not be the way things will be forever.

Although many will be looking forward to this time of being together, it will be necessary to remember that out of love for one another and out of an abundance of caution, we will not be able to hug, shake hands, or linger for prolonged conversations afterwards. Also, at this time, there will be no singing and the service will be limited to around 45 minutes.

Also be aware that because this is an outdoor event, it will subject to weather conditions permitting.  If the event is cancelled, an email will be sent out around Noon on the day of the event.

We are excited to announce this opportunity for in-person worship as we continue to move towards more in-person gatherings in the coming weeks.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND (EVEN IF YOU HAVE REGISTERED) IF YOU ARE FEELING AT ALL UNWELL OR FEEL THAT YOU HAVE HAD A COVID-19 EXPOSURE.
