Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County!
We consider interns from educational programs (Psychology, Human Development & Family Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Health & Exercise Science, etc.), the Workforce Center, and those that reach out to us directly for an internship. Each internship is formatted differently, based on the program you are currently in, your needs and wants, and the number of hours you need to complete.
Across the board, at any of our Clubs, you can gain these skills through our internship program:
*Knowledge and experience in program development
*Youth development and leadership experience
*Program implementation and strategies experience
*Experience working with a diverse population of youth
*Behavioral management skills
*Sharper communication skills
*Small and large group facilitation skills
We do ask that you are available to complete your hours between 1 - 7 PM, Monday - Friday during the school year and between 8 AM - 6 PM, Monday - Friday during the summer months. Some Clubs do close a bit earlier, as well. Youth are at the Clubs after-school and all day in the summer. Please keep in mind, if you are unable to be at the Club while the youth are there you will be missing out on vital internship opportunities.
Some internship duties include homework help or tutoring, assisting in the creation and implementation of planned group activities, the opportunity to create your own activity or program, mentoring one-on-one, rapport building, setting rules and expectations, and facilitating large and small groups. We do have limited internship positions available in our admin offices. Please let me know if that is of particular interest. Administrative duties could include research, grant writing, program development, fundraising, etc.
All interns will meet with Site Supervisors regularly to discuss interests, strengths, areas of improvement, scheduling, professionalism, etc.
