The Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association (SCCLA) annually awards several $1,000 Scholarships and $2,000 Fellowships to local law students with a demonstrated interest in the Asian Pacific American community and/or causes.
SCCLA Scholarships are awarded based on (1) financial need, (2) academic accomplishments, and/or (3) active involvement or future contribution to the Chinese American and/or Asian Pacific American community. Law students at all levels are encouraged to apply. There is no clerkship requirement for Scholarships. Scholarship recipients MUST attend SCCLA’s Annual Installation & Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles in order to receive their scholarships.
SCCLA Fellowships fund clerkships at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Los Angeles (AAAJ-LA) during the upcoming Fall, Spring, and Summer school sessions. Receipt of Fellowship funds is conditioned upon serving as a clerk at AAAJ-LA for a minimum of 15 hours per week for 10 weeks. Fellowship recipients are recognized at the Banquet and awarded the fellowship title and funds at the following year’s Banquet only upon successful completion of all fellowship requirements.
