Before filling out and submitting this application, please read the following information:
- ALL students interested in enrolling for the first time in a CTE program at Jackson River Technical Center (JRTC) are required to complete this application to be considered for initial acceptance into a program at the entry level course regardless of grade level or enrollment in previous JRTC courses.
- JRTC program courses have limited availability and are capped at 20 students per course. All applications are reviewed by program instructors and administrator(s) and ranked based on application responses. Notice of acceptance will be given by your school counselor at the time of scheduling. Priority is given to students who are able to complete the full 3 year program in good academic standing.
- JRTC programs require students to be in grade 10 with few exceptions. If you are applying for acceptance into a program as a 9th grader, special permission must be granted by the JRTC principal after consultation with your guidance counselor. The exceptions to this include Marketing and Technical Drawing and Design in which 9th graders are allowed to take. Additional information may be necessary before your application is considered, and you may be required to participate in an interview with the program instructor and/or JRTC principal. If you are an 8th grader completing this application to take courses as a 9th grader next year, the only programs available for you to select are Technical Drawing and Design and Marketing.
- JRTC students are expected to attend all classes, participate fully in the instructional program AND follow all expectations outlined in the course syllabus including code of conduct. Successful candidates have a strong work ethic, an exceptional attendance record, are motivated to learn new skills and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals.
- JRTC enforces rules for program advancement that apply to a student's attendance, academic performance and personal conduct. If accepted into a program at JRTC, advancement to the next level will depend on your commitment and performance in each of these areas.
- Current or past JRTC students who do not meet the criteria to advance to the next level may complete an application for consideration into the entry level course within a different program.
