RSVP for Film showing "13th"
Come see “13th” in a free screening on Wednesday, July 26th at 7:00 PM at the Weinstein Auditorium of the Science Building (#3) at Washington Adventist University. This screening is a follow up to the Book Group's reading of Michelle Alexander's outstanding book The New Jim Crow, but the film screening is for everyone, whether they took part in the Book Group or not. Also, did we mention it's free!

Per Wikipedia: 13th is a 2016 American documentary by director Ava DuVernay. The film explores the "intersection of race, justice and mass incarceration in the United States;" it is titled after the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which freed the slaves and prohibited slavery (unless as punishment for a crime).

Please RSVP below so that we can send you a reminder before the event!

I plan to attend the free screening of "13th" on Wednesday, July 26 at 7 p.m. *
