For purposes of this survey the phrase "public records" refers to documents, data and other records that are available to the public because of specific statutes, ordinances and court decisions.

THIS SURVEY DOES NOT COVER FEDERAL FOIA — only state and local access to records. Please consider only state and local access when answering questions.

The Transparency Alliance is primarily geared to journalists, though others may benefit. Non-journalists are welcome to take this survey if you actively make open records requests. If you have never made a public records request or only file federal requests, this survey is not for you.
