RPN training is sequential and cumulative, culminating in Certified Resilience Peer status if you successfully complete 3 full quarters of training requirements and are able to master the skills taught in each quarter of training (as evaluated by your clinical supervisor). Training phases and responsibilities beginning in Winter 2018 are as follows:
RPN I: For new applicants to Resilience Peer Network. Attend the weekly basic RPN skills seminar (1.5 hr/wk), complete the iCBT program (6 online lessons over 6 weeks, approx. 1 hr/wk), and attend weekly in-person support groups as participant-observers to reinforce the iCBT program (1 hr/week). RPN I training commitment requires 3.5 hr/wk for the entire quarter. All RPN members must participate in 2 outreach events per quarter.
RPN II: Participate in intensive role play supervision where you will sharpen your facilitation skills through role plays with graduate students and other RPN trainees (2 hrs/wk). During this quarter of training, selected RPN II members may receive additional skills training to provide 1-on-1 orientations for the DGC-RPN iCBT study (minimum 3 hr/week commitment to run orientations and attend orientation supervision).
RPN III: Advancement to RPN III requires mastery of core skills and content from RPN I and RPN II and requires supervisor approval. Participate in training and supervision to provide 1-on-1 orientations for the DGC-RPN iCBT study (minimum 3 hrs/week). Pending supervisor approval, RPN III members may also be selected to facilitate weekly in-person support groups with a Certified Resilience Peer to train RPN I members (1 hr/wk plus weekly clinical supervision 1 hr/wk). Attendance for group facilitators is mandatory. You must commit to 8 consecutive weeks to (a) facilitate a support group and (b) participate in weekly group supervision. All RPN must participate in 2 outreach events per quarter.
Certified Resilience Peer (CRP): Advancement to CRP requires mastery of core skills and content from RPN I, RPN II, and RPN III, and requires supervisor approval and full completion of campus trainings (QPR, CARE, LGBT Ally, and Emergency Response). Certified Resilience Peers may opt for Track A, Track B, Track C or a combination of all 3.
CRP TRACK A: Co-lead in-person support groups to reinforce the iCBT lessons and receive weekly clinical supervision (2 hrs/wk for 8 weeks). Attendance for group facilitators is mandatory. You must commit to 8 consecutive weeks to (a) facilitate a weekly support group and (b) participate in weekly group supervision. CRP TRACK B: Provide student iCBT study orientation visits and provide one-on-one support to iCBT study participants going through the This Way Up program (4 hrs/wk).
CRP Track C: CRPs who demonstrate a strong portfolio of core skills and competencies may be selected to provide weekly individual support to reinforce the iCBT program for DGC study participants (minimum 2-3 hrs/wk) and participate in weekly group supervision (1hr/wk). Minimum total commitment (3-4 hrs/wk).
