OCRA/APPQMR Application (October 15-16)
Virtual Session

This is a two-day training. Attendance is required on both days.
Dates: Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16, 2026
Time: 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Location: Zoom
Additional meeting information will be provided the week of the training.

Note: Newly hired faculty for Fall 2026 will receive priority registration for all Fall OCRA sessions.

Prior Completion: Faculty who have already attended an OCRA/APPQMR training are not eligible to participate again. Before registering, please check the APPQMR / QM Reviewed Courses / DLIS Completion List to confirm that you have not previously completed the training.

If you have previously completed the training and want to redesign another course, please contact your Instructional Designer or email dlstaff@austincc.edu.

Registration Cap: 25 Faculty

Stipend: Eligible faculty will receive a $750 stipend upon successful completion of the academy, including full attendance at the APPQMR training and completion of a course redesign that meets Quality Matters review standards (all Essential Standards and a minimum score of 85%).

Professional Development: 6 hours
Participants must self-report PD credits: Go to Workday > Profile icon > View Profile > Career > Training > Add Training

Online Course Redesign Academy (OCRA) & Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

The foundation of the Online Course Redesign Academy (OCRA) is Quality Matters (QM). QM is a faculty-centered, peer review process designed to improve the quality of online courses. It is based on nationally recognized best practices and built on the expertise of experienced online instructors and instructional designers. 

OCRA is designed to help ACC Distance Education courses meet QM standards. The training is divided into two parts:

  1. Attend a Learning to Apply the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) session

  2. Complete the course (re)design, development, and QM Review process with DE Instructional Designers
