Teams will receive proof of insurance within 3-5 days of approval when the appropriate number of Level 2 coaches meets the following:
Coaches must have a current Level 1 license before interacting with any student-athletes.
Be sure to have all participants sign a liability waiver prior to joining any team activities. The team is responsible for knowing and complying with any permit regulations with all land managers. The Colorado League can issue Certificates for Additionally Insured as requested.
Pre-Season dates April 1st - July 14th.
Teams may partake in a maximum of eight (8) scheduled activities during the pre-season, April 1st - July 14th. The team and coaches must be registered and insured in order to conduct these activities. These activities must be approved by the League Director. Please complete the approval form below.
Allowable Pre-season Activities:
1. Bike checks and/or bike fits;
2. Team race events (ex.: 12 Hrs. of Mesa Verde, 18 Hrs. of Fruita, Sunrise to Sunset 4 or 5-person team);
3. Mechanical workshops;
4. All-inclusive fun rides;
5. Skills clinics; and
6. Camping trips – must have a ratio of 1:3 coaches to student-athletes.

NOTE: Trail work activities are not included in the 8 event limit.
Regular Season dates July 15 - November 30.
Teams may conduct sanctioned practices and participate in Colorado League races only during the regular season. Recommended practice schedule includes 2 - 4 days a week with at least 1 scheduled day of rest per week.
End of Season:
No team rides or training activities may take place after November 30th. Special Off-Season activities and rides may be approved and allowed by the League Director (use the approval form below).
Off-Season dates December 1st - March 31st.
Organized team rides and races are strictly prohibited during the off-season and are NOT covered by team insurance. The following activities during the off-season will jeopardize a team or club’s eligibility.
1. A League team racing under the school name;
2. Using the school jersey at races as a team; individuals are allowed to wear their jersey while racing as an individual;
3. Having practices that meet on school grounds;
4. Having regular meetings at school that organize activity for off-season training and racing.
League teams are limited to the number of weeks they can have activities. In addition, teams are NOT insured for activities outside of these limits.
Note to those who coach riders outside of the Colorado League fall high school racing seasons: Colorado League respects off-season racing pursuits; however, all off-season coaching activity must be done under a separately organized, insured, and named team. Teams that continue racing under the guise of the same high school team during the off-season will be ineligible to compete in Colorado League races the following season.
