Throughout our organizing conversations in the past three years, our colleagues across departments and schools have brought up one prominent issue repeatedly: late pay. One of the reasons we voted overwhelmingly for our union last December was to negotiate protections to make sure this chronic issue would be addressed, just like our colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Amherst did through their union (Graduate Employee Organization-UAW Local 2322).
With this in mind, one of our major goals this semester is to force this issue onto the agenda. While we know countless student workers have been affected by late pay, gathering more information on your experiences will empower us to make specific demands and seek specific reforms.
