Qualification for Assistance
To qualify for the pet food program, those seeking pet need to be approved prior to receiving their first distribution. Approvals for receiving pet foods will be based on household income and urgency. We review each situation on a case by case basis. We understand that unexpected emergencies do arise and temporary assistance may be needed.

We will often require documentation to support your application, such as: Employment Insurance documentation, a doctor’s letter or documentation of disability, a card or documentation from a Government Assistance Program, a referral from another local assistance program, etc. Individuals and families requiring assistance beyond their predetermined timeframe will need to re-apply to one of our term assistance programs before their program ends.

Proof of income can be a pay stub, or tax return Notice of Assessment. Please also bring photo ID when picking up on the distribution day.

Please note: Pet food is provided on a first come, first serve basis. We are a supplemental feeding resource that depends on donations and volunteers, therefore we cannot guarantee the amount of food or the kind of food you will receive. We will however try our best to accommodate dietary restrictions when possible.
