The goal is to provide eligible farms and ranches an award of $500 with no strings attached. If the fund is unable to reach its fundraising goals, then all money is raised may be distributed to all qualifying applicants at a lower amount. Our goal is to help as many farmers and ranchers affected by Hurricane Harvey as possible. If we raise more than our goal of $40,000, excess funds will be moved into a long term recovery fund developed by a coalition of organizations.
The application closes October 1 at midnight. Please apply if you need help; we hope you don't feel ashamed or shy. Certainly we want this money to reach those most severely impacted by Harvey. This fund is set up based on generosity and kindness and we are counting on applicants to use their best judgment.
The Texas Farmer/Rancher Disaster Relief Fund is a partnership between Texas Farmers’ Market (TFM), the Texas Center for Local Food (TCLF), Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (TOFGA), Sustainable Food Center (SFC), Growers Alliance of Central Texas, National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), Central Texas Young Farmers Coalition and Grow Local South Texas, among others.
