All 6th grade students at The Classical Academy, Bear Valley have an opportunity to attend a 3-day, 2-night class trip to Idyllwild, California to participate in AstroCamp on October 6-8, 2025!

Please note, this is an optional educational trip.  Spots are limited and are open to all students on A, B, and C Track on a first come, first served basis. The camp may fill before the first deadline. Additional spots will NOT be available once the camp fills.

Cost: The cost per student is $400.00. This price covers transportation, all camp costs, meals (except lunch on arrival day), and a t-shirt.

Camp Activities include:

Atmosphere & Gases - Learn about planetary atmospheres and changes in states of matter as you experiment with pressure, temperature, density, and other gas properties.

Expedition Valles Marineris - State-of-the-art rock wall and interactive touch screen computers make you feel like you're researching on the surface of Mars while climbing the walls of the largest canyon in the solar system.

Space Night -Telescope viewing and night hike as darkness arrives, groups will depart for a short walk on a nearby trail. Activities include sensory awareness games, stories, stargazing, and demonstrations of our ability to adjust to darkness. Groups will then head to one of the Telescope viewing areas, using binoculars, digital cameras, manual telescopes, and state-of-the-art 12" Meade computerized Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes to view the night sky.

Astro Olympics - A carnival atmosphere prevails in this series of games where groups compete and have fun at the end of the day.

1. Classical Academies works very hard to provide reasonably priced class trips. To keep costs down, families will share accommodations and chaperone responsibilities.

2. Roommate requests will be considered, but are not guaranteed.

3. Chaperone space is limited. You will be contacted at a later date if you are selected to attend.

4. Food allergies are not considered special needs and will not give you priority as a chaperone.

5. Parents will be assigned accommodations and learning groups with other children (some students may be from another campus), whom they will supervise during the trip.

6. Male chaperones room with male students and female chaperones room with female students— no exceptions.

7. Due to sleeping arrangements and camp policies, we ask that parents of students with special needs be the same gender as their student so that the student can receive the help that they will need. If this is not possible, please contact the front office to discuss other arrangements, which may incur additional costs.

8. I understand that no outside transportation is permitted.  Students must ride on the class trip bus.
