PIARC Survey Road Safety 2026

PIARC Working Group 3.1.2 is analyzing Safe System developments in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). A critical step in advancing road safety is identifying barriers that hinder the adoption and effective implementation of the Safe System approach, a systemic approach to road safety with coordination between pillars. This effort aims to address these barriers by developing practical, evidence-based solutions tailored to the specific challenges faced by LMICs.

The purpose of this questionnaire is to gather insights into the barriers and opportunities across key areas: management and knowledge infrastructure, road and network design characteristics and guidelinesvehicle and transportation system characteristics and guidelines, road user behaviour, and post-crash care.

The responses will inform PIARC's initiatives to support and facilitate the implementation of the Safe System approach, fostering sustainable improvements in road safety across LMICs.

Contact persons from LMICs and international organizations are invited to participate in this survey.

The treatment of information would remain anonymous.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
