ESL Tutoring Coach Application
Love teaching? Enjoy helping others develop their teaching skills? We’re looking for ESL Tutor Coaches available 3-4hrs each week to support our pre-GED tutoring sessions at Madison College’s downtown campus on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings this fall semester. You would be working with Literacy Network staff to coordinate the site/program and mentor tutors. Every week you’d be responsible for welcoming all program participants, providing encouragement and instructional support to tutors, and tracking attendance. Throughout the semester you will review tutor and learner feedback to make recommendations as necessary (suggest new teaching strategies, find extra resources for individual tutor pairs, etc). Training and textbooks/materials are provided, including pre-designated curricula to practice literacy skills for the GED.

Training: 10:30am-12:30pm Thursday, September 7
Weekly sessions: 10:30am-12:30pm Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, Sept 26 - Dec 6

Requirements:
•Ability to attend at least one of the weekly sessions throughout the semester, with no more than 2 absences
•Experience teaching or tutoring adults
•Knowledge of current second language acquisition theory and teaching methodology
•Experience working with adults of diverse cultural, social, economic, and linguistic backgrounds
•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility
•Professional communication skills
