Martin McHugh Scholarship Award
The Martin McHugh Scholarship is awarded each year to an Irish step dancer from the Pittsburgh area. The scholarship was established in 2006 by Jim Graven as Chairman of the West Virginia Feis. It was created in honor of Martin McHugh, a dedicated father of a step dancer and tireless feis volunteer. Marty passed away at the age of 47 in January 2006.
To qualify for the scholarship the applicant must meet the following criteria:
· Must be enrolled in an Irish dance school in the Pittsburgh area
· A high school senior accepted to a school of higher education
· A participant of the Pittsburgh Feiseanna throughout the year
· Experienced a significant emotional, physical or financial need
The application from the dancer and/or teacher must be received by March 1 in the year of high school graduation.
The scholarship will be awarded at the West Virginia Feis in the same year.
