Thank you for signing up as a mentee. By completing this form, you agree to attend ECMTC activities and communicate with a mentor should you be assigned one. Other expectations include the following:

Ask lots of questions.
No amount of coursework or experience prepares a teacher so completely that further information and support is not required. If you have a question, please ask without embarrassment or the feeling that somehow “I should know this.”

Provide the facts.
We all have growth points on which we are working at any given moment. Make sure to be specific about what you are trying to accomplish and supply relevant, objective details. Use statements like “I notice when”, “I wonder”, or other specific responses of students rather than judgment statements.

Follow school regulations.
When providing specifics about classroom situations, be sure to follow data privacy rules in order to respect and protect associated students. Give only as much information as is needed to contextualize the problem.

WMEA will provide both early career and mentor educators with program parameters; however, information provided by mentors taking part in the Early Career Music Teacher Collaboration Project may represent views of the individual mentor educator and may not represent an approved position or policy statement from the Wisconsin Music Educators Association or its affiliates. Confidentiality is expected regarding specific school situations. Your participation in this program is voluntary and can be stopped at any time. Should you choose not to participate, please contact the Mentoring Chair.
