This course is intended for researchers who are interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to independently carry out a meta-analysis. While not necessarily the focus of this short course, critical steps in systematic review – the pre-requisite to a successful meta-analysis – will also be covered in the course, albeit not extensively. It will include didactics on the steps in the conduct of a meta-analysis including critical steps in a systematic review.
These didactics will be reinforced with hands-on laboratory sessions (or workshops) on literature search, risk of bias assessment, extraction and conversion of numerical data, meta-analysis of binary and continuous outcomes, and assessment of publication bias.
