Please answer the following questions honestly to reflect on your work in choir for quarter 1.

Attendance: choose the answer that best fits your attendance and tardiness this quarter. *

I attended (nearly) every day and was always on time for class, and used my time wisely during passing time so I didn't need bathroom breaks.

I was tardy or needed to use class time for a bathroom break once in a while.

I was tardy often, and used the bathroom most days during class time instead of using passing time.

I was absent or tardy most days and did not respect class time.

Food/beverage/gum use in class *

I never chewed gum in class, never had food, and only had clear water.

I chewed gum once or twice but spit it out when asked, and didn't have food or drinks in class.

I often chew gum in class, and/or often have snacks in class.

I always chew gum in class, and/or I often had snacks and drinks other than water.

Phone/electronic usage *

I never used my phone in class and always put it in my designated pocket.

I almost always put my phone in the designated pocket.

I often forgot to put my phone away and/or was distracted by it during class.

I don't have a phone OR don't bring my phone to school.

Engagement/Focus during rehearsal:

distractions include things like talking, turning around/not facing the piano & teacher, eating or drinking during class, goofing around with friends, brushing/doing hair, throwing things, etc...

I was very focused each rehearsal and rarely, if ever, caused distraction.

I caused a few distractions but overall was focused

I caused several distractions and Mrs. Albrecht had to remind me multiple times throughout the quarter to focus.

I caused or was involved in distractions almost every day.

Required

Choir posture: feet on the floor, bottom scooched to the edge of chair, back tall, body and eyes facing director, holding music up. *

I sat or stood with "choir posture" every time I was expected to sing, including warm ups.

I sometimes had good "choir posture" but needed reminders.

I often needed reminders to fix my posture.

I ignored reminders to use choir posture.

Seating: you have, since day 1, had an expected seat in the seating chart. *

I always sat in my assigned seat.

I sat in a different seat once, but moved to my correct seat and didn't need further reminders.

I often sat in a seat other than my assigned seat.

I spent most of the quarter sitting where I wanted, instead of in my assigned seat.

Materials:

Each day you should have gotten your folder from the box, taken good care of the folder and music, and had a pencil handy. Then at the end of class, you waited and put your folder in the box in the correct order so things stayed organized.

I always took care of my materials and have everything I need each day.

I need to work on taking better care of my materials, and need to work on passing my folder in correctly.

Awareness of how behavior affects ensemble *

I know that my choices affect the rest of the group, and I act appropriately.

I sometimes forget that my behaviors affect others in class, so I need to work on this.

I don't care how my choices affect the class, and I am not a team player.

Singing *

I sing 100% of the time that I am asked to, and I am loud enough that I can hear myself.

I sing 100% of the time that I am asked to, BUT I am very quiet and might not be adding value to the group quite yet.

I sing part of the time, but need reminders to participate.

I often forget to sing, or I don't sing loud enough to really contribute to the group.

I refuse to sing.

Respect *

I try my best to be kind and respectful to my classmates and teacher.

I admit, I need to work on being respectful whether it's to my teacher or my classmates.

I have a hard time with respect.

I *think* I'm being respectful, but have been told otherwise and I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Solfege - This is the "do re mi fa sol la ti do" that we do a scale, then the "game" each/most days. *

I sing and use hand signals.

I sing but don't do the hand signals.

I don't participate in this.

I understand that receiving an A in choir is something that must be earned based on all of the above, and that I must demonstrate all of this. *

I don't understand why I have to earn it.
