PlayStreets Volunteer Sign Up - Summer 2019
LUCHA is looking for volunteers to assist with our PlayStreets events! Playstreets is a series of block parties sponsored by the Chicago Department of Public Health that focus on encouraging outdoor play and promoting health and wellness in our community. At the events, we will have fitness instructors, outdoor play equipment, bounce houses, and more!
Founded in 1982, LUCHA has evolved into one the Midwest’s premiere housing advocates. LUCHA has effectively organized community members to fight for better housing services from both public and private sectors. It also works with community residents to access housing products and services, provide housing counseling, and coordinate technical assistance.
As a volunteer with LUCHA, we expect that expect you to be on time, look presentable, and conduct yourself with integrity. LUCHA's core values include diversity contributes to and enriches community, all people deserve respect and dignity, and we are transformed in our service to others. Therefore, LUCHA expects all volunteers to treat patrons with respect, dignity, and care.
Mark all the dates you are available to volunteer. Volunteers are also needed 1 hour before and 1 hour after the events begin and end. (Volunteers need not be present for the entirety of the events, we will work with you to schedule your time after you sign up.)
Saturday, June 1st: 1800 Block of N. Spaulding, 12:00pm-3:00pm
Wednesday, June 26th: 1800 block of N. Sawyer, 3:00pm-8:00pm
Saturday, July 27: 1700 Block of N. Drake, 11:00pm-7:00pm
Saturday, August 24th: 1400 Block of N. Washtenaw, 12:00pm-3:00pm
Saturday, September 14th: 1500 block of N. Talman, 12:00pm-3:00pm
Volunteers are needed for a variety of activities. Mark all the activities you would be interested in.
Door-knocking and flyering on PlayStreets blocks approximately 1 month before events to build awareness
Door-knocking on the days of events to remind residents about events 1 hour before they occur
Setting up outdoor play equipment on the day of events
Helping to facilitate games and activities and guide participants to vendors during events
Asking participants to sign in during events
Tearing down equipment after events are over
