2nd Rhiwbina Scout Group provides skills for life through activities for young people. We lead five, thriving units out of the Scout Hall in the heart of Rhiwbina Village. Our work is solely run by volunteers as a small charity that is part of Scouts UK. We need more volunteers and believe you have unique skills and experiences we would love to have involved.

This survey is to take stock of what training, experience, skills and knowledge you have as a potential volunteer - now or in future. Anyone has the ability to volunteer. We are particularly interested in anyone interested in serving as a trustee. This type of volunteering is a fantastic way to give back to your community and enhance your professional experience.

By completing this survey, you'll discover more about what's required to become a trustee. You're not committing to anything by submitting this survey; only showing curiosity and an interest in volunteering in some way with your local Scout Group. 

If you do wish to become a trustee now or in future, you will be supported to complete any further training to perform your role as a trustee. Why?

2nd Rhiwbina Scout Group is a registered charity and must comply with the rules and regulations set out by Scouts UK and the UK Charity Commission. One of these rules is that the Group is governed by our Trustee Board: a group of individuals who collectively set the strategy and give oversight to the running of the charity. This Trustee Board is governed by a constitution that follows the Policies, Organisation and Rules (POR) that all Scout groups in the UK must use. 

As a trustee, Scouts UK has created a minimum requirement for all trustees to train in trustee and Scouts UK essential knowledge, safety, safeguarding and GDPR. These are the trustee introduction module, essential information module, safety training module, safeguarding module, and GDPR module - all online - that every trustee must complete. 

If you're an aspiring trustee with our Group, this is easily done and we'll help.

Some trustees also may get involved in the leadership and management of 2nd Rhiwbina Scouts Group. 
  • This may be leading or supporting our units of Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. 
  • This may be organising fundraising initiatives or collective Group events to bring our members together. 
  • This may be working on a project, such as improving the Scout Hall or building a website. 
We expect trustees will volunteer in different ways beyond their role as board members. We are a small charity without any employees. However this aspect of our work is not part of the collective duty of the trustee board.
